Mermaid Stones

Mermaid Stones, also known as Hag Stones, are natural holey stones that were found on the shores of Lake Michigan.  They come with a natural hole in the rock and hemp string can easily be added for a perfect, natural necklace.

WHY CHOOSE MERMAID STONES?

We believe in all natural jewelry. The rocks were picked from the shores of Lake Michigan and washed.  Nothing else was done to these stones.  We use all natural hemp string and every rock comes with 30 inches of string.  You pick out the rock and the string color, and we will send you a beautiful, all natural necklace.

WHERE MERMAID STONES ARE FOUND?

Most are found in dry riverbeds or along the seashore, as the action of running or moving water causes the erosion that result in the unique appearance of the stone. The reason they are so sought after and valuable is because it’s common belief that magic cannot work on moving water, and since the holes in hag stones are made by the force of this water, that the stones retain water’s beneficial influence. In effect, a hag stone is an amazing protection amulet, and so much more.

WHERE DID THESE STONES GET THEIR NAME?

The name “hag stone” originates in part from ancient beliefs that most maladies, which were curable by using this stone, were caused originally by spectral hags. Other areas call them adder stones because they are believed to protect the wearer from the effects of snake bite.

HOW RARE ARE HAG STONES?

A Hag Stone is a rare and extremely magical stone tumbled by tides and winds through time with a natural hole in it. Also known as the Great Mother Stone, Odin Stone, Witch Stone, Faerie Stone, Wishing Stone, Seeing Stone, Adder Stone, and Mermaid Stone. In Italian Witchcraft the holed stone is associated with faeries, and often referred as the Holy Stone.
